Indian Smartphone users spend nearly 3 hours in a day on Smartphones

Ericsson Consumer Lab made a survey on Smartphone users across India, according to the survey most of the Indian Consumers are habituated to spend minimum 3 hours on their Smartphones and approximately 25% are watching the Smartphones 100 times in a day.

The Ericsson Consumer Lab has made this survey on over 4000 Smartphone users across 18 cities in India.

In just two years of time there is a drastic increase of 57% in Apps downloading and usage and the Smartphone time spent is increased by 20% in India. The people are spending approximately one-third of the time by using different apps on their Smartphones. According to study there is also scope of increasing. Mobile Video users are increasing Mobile video users are spending 61% time on Smartphones when compared to normal Smartphone users. And for nearly 1/3rd of customers Smartphone is the only source of watching Videos.

Due to Social Networking sites and Chats on Smartphones huge numbers of users are attracting Smartphones and spending hours of time on Smartphones. Over 40% of mature Smartphone users were stating that they will spend time on Smartphones for not only Networking sites they access more different things on their mobiles. And Chatting apps like, Whatsapp, Wechat are used for business purposes by minimum 24% of Smartphone users.

Ajay Gupta, vice president-strategy and marketing, Ericsson India has stated that, ” Maturity is an important dimension in mobile broadband behaviour. Mature users consume almost twice as much data as new users. As consumers explore more apps and services relevant to their interests and needs, mobile broadband usage is set to grow”.As per Ericsson Lab Survey in India April-June 2014

Spending time on Smartphone for : 3hours

For at least 100 times viewed by : 25%

Apps Downloading increased by : 57%

Spending time on Smartphone in two years increased by : 20%

Mobile Video users increased by : 61%

Customers having only video source as Mobile : One-Third

Mature Smartphone users : 40%

Spending time on Chatting Apps : 24%
